3. Purpose of Establishment
JACDS was established for the purposes of
1) Promotion of the industrialization of Japanese drug stores within the health-care industry,
2) Compilation and provision of appropriate information for use in the specific development of the drug store industry,
3) Implementation of proposals and suggestions from consumer, industry and government groups involved in the drug store indutry, which will serve to contribute to the health and lifestyles of Japanese

4. Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is chaired by Nobuyuki Sekiguchi, Director and President of RYUSEIDOHONTEN Co., Ltd., and consists of other 56 directors and 2 auditors.


5. Organization
Besides the Board of Directors, in which important issues are deliberated, JACDS has the following 13 committees to execute the practical operations.
~ Association of JACDS Employed Pharmacists (Committee) ~
Hold pharmacist forums and training to improve the quality of employed pharmacists. Support the deployment of employed pharmacists in order to support disaster areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Expand fields of professional ability, create a comfortable working environment and establish a system which enables utilization of abilities.
~ Crime & Disaster Prevention Measure Committee ~
Gather information during disasters and create support guidelines for unification with manufacturers and wholesalers in order to ensure prompt reopening of business. Exchange information and establish strengthened relationships with police and other related groups in each prefecture. Implement activities to promote an emergency contact network for shoplifting crimes and hold a campaign to prevent shoplifting.
~ JAPAN Drugstore Exhibition Steering Committee ~
Organize the 12‚”‚ˆ JAPAN Drugstore Exhibition.
Promote exhibition from related industries and other industries.
Encourage attendance from foreign countries such as China, Taiwan and Korea.
~ Organization Committee ~
Ensure that the substance of association activities is sufficiently communicated to members.
Smoothly elicit member opinions and problems, and provide the most recent information.
Increase the attendance rate for block general meetings and seek mutual exchange between members.
~ Professional Cultivation Committee ~
Conduct a new Nursing Care Information Agent System and enhance the Advisor Certification System. Actively support continual training to increase the quality of registered dealers and actively support establishment of prefectural branches. Conduct activities for increasing the quality of pharmacists and support the Self-Medication Award.
~ Dispensing Promotion Committee ~
Clarify the difference in drug store prescriptions based on the conventional separation of dispensing and medical practice, as well as non-pharmacy-specific prescription supply.. Verify the Specified Nurse System.
Conduct research regarding the relaxation of facilities standards for aseptic pharmaceutical addition.
~ Emergency Response Committee ~
Create manuals regarding various association responses in times of emergency. Establish rules for establishing countermeasure headquarters in times of emergency.
Review the association's response policies for various emergencies.
~ Commercialization Promotion Committee ~
Conduct research regarding the development of new profitable businesses of the association.
Provide advice regarding the revision of profitable businesses by the committee.
Work to realize a strengthened management infrastructure of the association.
~ Revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Act Operation Research Committee ~
Work to realize a strengthened management infrastructure of the association.
Work to lift the ban on business practices in the locations of supervising pharmacists.
Seek to develop laws regarding the sales of medical devices.
~ Industry Standards Promotion Committee ~
Conduct activities to spread and promote standardized EDI (logistics BMS).
Hold research and seminars regarding operation methods for standardized EDI (logistics BMS).
Conduct activities to spread and promote category management.
~ OTC Promotion Committee ~
Review issues for the promotion of self-medication.
Form partnerships with manufacturers and wholesaler groups, and seek to expand switch OTC.
Provide opinions to central government and the mass media.
~ Social Contribution Committee ~
Conduct support and fund-raising activities for Soraputi Kids' Camp, a public interest foundation.
Work to spread the implementation of aid campaigns by corporations.
Conduct energy-saving activities in response to insufficient power supply (including prevention of global warming).
~ Executive Committee ~
Work to establish a revenue base managed by the association. Implement budget controls.
Check the status of activities in each committee, and check the progress of budgets.
~ Office of the Secretariat ~
Steadily and strongly promote business activities based on the policies determined by the association and committees.
Respond to inquiries regarding the revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Act.
›Conduct negotiations between government (central/municipal) and member corporation response to the revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Act.
›Form a partnership with the Japan Pharmaceutical Industry Training Center and work to increase the quality of pharmacists and registered dealers as required by the revised Pharmaceutical Affairs Act.
